Matt Greenwell

Matt Greenwell currently holds a University of Chattanooga (UC) Foundation Professorship in the Department of Art at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He served as the Head of the Department of Art for eight years, beginning in 2004, returning to a full-time teaching appointment in Graphic Design in 2012. He has received college awards for distinguished service in advising and for excellence in teaching, including a UT National Alumni Award for Teaching.

Professor Greenwell works in regular partnership with Chattanooga-based design studio Widgets and Stone, has received art and design awards at the local and national levels (ADDY and AIGA), and has had works featured in Print Magazine, as well as in books published by Allworth Press and Rockport Press (Effective Publication Management by Cathy Connor and 1000+ More Graphic Elements edited by Grant Design Collaborative, respectively). Professor Greenwell was a founding board member of the Chattanooga chapter of the AIGA and Chattanooga’s The Open Press, a printmaking and letterpress cooperative. Professor Greenwell served as a member of the Commission on Accreditation from 2013-2019.

Professor Greenwell received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Design from the University of Iowa, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising and Journalism from Western Kentucky University.
