Jan Stinchcomb

Jan Stinchcomb has served as Vice-Provost of Undergraduate Studies and Faculty at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, Maryland, since 2011. She is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of programming and management of the undergraduate program and faculty. In 2012, she was invited to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees of Harford Community College, in Bel Air, Maryland. From 2011 to 2013, she served as President of the International Association of Art and Design Schools (AIAS), the first American to hold the position.

Prior to her current post, she served as MICA’s Dean of Undergraduate Studies and Faculty since 2006, and as Associate Dean of Academic Affairs from 1999 to 2006, where she was responsible for academic space planning, technology planning, and management of Academic Services. From 1996 to 1999, Ms. Stinchcomb was the Chair of MICA’s Foundation Department. Prior to moving into administrative positions, she was a full-time member of the MICA faculty, teaching in the Foundation and Fine Art programs.

Ms. Stinchcomb has served as a visiting evaluator for NASAD since 2009, and as a member of the Commission on Accreditation since 2013. She participated as a member of the NASAD Working Group on Communication Design Standards in 2012, and as an Annual Meeting presenter.

Ms. Stinchcomb received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Queens College of the City University of New York in 1984, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in General Fine Arts from MICA in 1989.
