Jade Jewett

Jade Jewett is Chair of the Department of Visual Arts at California State University, Fullerton. Her teaching includes courses in painting, drawing, and critical theory. She serves on major university committees, as well as advocates for faculty pension and union labor rights.

Professor Jewett has shown her paintings nationally and internationally, and has received critical reviews in Art PapersThe New Art Examiner, and The New Orleans Art Review. She has copy- and design-edited exhibition catalogs such as C.O.L.A. 2014: Individual Artist Fellowships (Los Angeles: Department of Cultural Affairs, 2014) and Whiteness: A Wayward Construction (Laguna Beach: Laguna Art Museum, 2003).

Professor Jewett has served NASAD as Chair of the Committee on Ethics. She was first elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2019.

Professor Jewett received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting degree from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Between her two degrees, she worked in New Orleans, Louisiana as a studio assistant to Ida Kohlmeyer and as a printmaker at the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center.
