Jade Jewett

JADE JEWETT currently serves as Professor and Special Consultant at California State University, Fullerton. She collaborated for five years on a $65M Visual Arts Modernization Project with university, college, department, architect, and builder teams to co-manage instructional, planning, building, and transitional needs. She also chaired the Art Department for nine years, serving 2,400+ majors and over 6,800 students annually. She engages with Development teams to raise funds for scholarships, facilities, and estate gifts. Her teaching includes courses in painting, drawing, and critical theory. Professor Jewett serves on major university committees, including faculty pension and labor rights, and served the National Council of Arts Administrators as a Board Member (six years) and Ryman Arts as a Leadership Council and host member (11 years).

Professor Jewett has shown her paintings nationally and internationally, and has received critical reviews in Art Papers, The New Art Examiner, and The New Orleans Art Review. She has copy- and design-edited exhibition catalogs such as C.O.L.A. 2014: Individual Artist Fellowships (Los Angeles: Department of Cultural Affairs, 2014) and Whiteness: A Wayward Construction (Laguna Beach: Laguna Art Museum, 2003).

Professor Jewett was first elected to the Commission on Accreditation in 2019 and was re-elected in 2022. She has served NASAD as Chair of the Committee on Ethics.

Professor Jewett received a Master of Fine Arts in Painting degree from Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Between degrees, she worked in New Orleans as a studio assistant to Louisiana artist Ida Kohlmeyer and as a printmaker at the New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center.
