Adrian R. Tió

Adrian R. Tió is Professor of Fine Arts and Dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Prior to his current appointment (2007), he served as Professor and Director of the School of Art at Northern Illinois University (2000-07). Other similar positions were held at Indiana State University (1996-2000) and Bowling Green State University (1979-1996).

Dean Tió has exhibited nationally as well as regionally in drawing, painting, and printmaking for over 35 years, and has conducted workshops on mural painting, papermaking, and the book arts. He has received recognition for his work through exhibition awards and creative research grants from Arts Midwest/NEA, Indiana Arts Commission, Indiana State University Arts Endowment, Ohio Arts Council, New Forms Regional Grant Program, Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, and Bowling Green State University. Residing in New Bedford, Massachusetts, he maintains his studio practice at the Hare of the Dog Press and Studio.

Dean Tió holds a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Cincinnati (1979), a Bachelor of Arts in Fine/Studio Arts from Temple University (1974), and studied at the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy (1975-76).
