Kate Bonansinga

Kate Bonansinga is Director of the School of Art in the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. Prior to this appointment, Professor Bonansinga was Founding Director of the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts at University of Texas at El Paso.

Professor Bonansinga is the author of Curating at the Edge: Artists Respond to the U.S./Mexico Border (University of Texas Press, 2014) and numerous book chapters and invited articles about contemporary artists and exhibitions. Recent curatorial projects include: Unraveled: Challenging Textile Traditions (2016), Past as Present: Capturing and Archiving the Female Experience in Photographs (2018), Tania Candiani: Sounding Labor, Silent Bodies (2020), and American Painting: The Eighties Revisited (2021).

Professor Bonansinga serves NASAD as a visiting evaluator. She served as member of the NASAD Committee on Ethics from 2018 – 2021.

Professor Bonansinga holds a Master of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Business Administration degree from New Mexico State University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan.
