Nancy M. Stuart

Nancy M. Stuart is the Dean of the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. Previously, she was the Executive Vice President and Provost of the Cleveland Institute of Art (2002-2011). Dean Stuart served on the faculty of the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology (1984-2002), and was a founding faculty member of Lansing Community College’s Photographic Technology Program (1975-1984).

Dean Stuart was an editor for the fourth edition of the Focal Press Encyclopedia of Photography, released in 2007. Visual Studies Workshop Press published her photographic project DES Stories: Faces and Voices of People Exposed to Diethylstilbestrol in 2001. She served on the Executive Committee of the Society for Photographic Education (SPE) National Board of Directors (2007-2015), and currently serves on the Board of Governors at the Hill Stead Museum in Farmington, CT.

Dean Stuart earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
