Michael Henderson

MICHAEL HENDERSON is Professor of Art and Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Media at Sam Houston State University. He served as Chair of the Department of Art from 2013-2022. Prior to his faculty appointment at Sam Houston State in 2001, he taught at the University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Christian University, and Princeton University.

Professor Henderson is the recipient of grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation and Artists Space. His work, including videos, video installations, digital prints, drawings and paintings, has been exhibited at the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, Rudolph Blum Gallery, Houston, the Dallas Museum of Art and other galleries and museums throughout the United States. Professor Henderson is a founding member of Box13 ArtSpace in Houston and served on the board from 2008-2015.

Professor Henderson holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas and was a fellow in the Whitney Independent Study Program of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.
