KATHLEEN “KAT” MYERS is a Professor of Art at Western Illinois University, where she has taught Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design for the past 26 years. She has served as Chair of the Department for the past eight years.
Professor Myers’ work focuses on sheet construction and forming but also incorporates many other processes and a variety of surface techniques. She has a strong interest in movement, visual or actual, and the contrast between the soft organic forms of nature and the hard geometric forms made by man.
Professor Myers’ work has been exhibited internationally and can be found in private and public collections. She is also frequently involved in a variety of commission requests.
Professor Myers holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Miami University of Ohio, and Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Ball State University.
